A Beach Vehicle Permit is required if you would like to access Stockton Beach in your 4WD vehicle.
To preserve the delicate nature of the dunes, there are only two legal access points on Stockton Beach with a 4WD.
- Lavis Lane, Williamtown
- James Patterson Drive and Gan Gan Road Anna Bay.
Annual and Day Permits are available. An annual permit costs $25.00, pensioners are $12.50 and RTA disabled registered vehicles are free. An annual permit covers 12 months, which commences at the start of April from one year to the next. Commencing at the start of October each year, Permits are sold for $12.50 (six months). Annual Permit holders are issued with a permit sticker for their vehicle.
A 'Day' Permit can be purchased for $5.00 and can be used for a weekend.
Permit holders must read the Beach Vehicle Policy/Code of Conduct) before being issued a permit and agree to the conditions when they sign their receipt.
Rangers regularly patrol the beach to check that drivers abide by the Code of Conduct and issue fines to drivers who do not hold permits ($110.00 fine). You can purchase your permit from the attached list of Agents.
The proceeds from the sale of the permits are used by the Port Stephen's Council to continually upgrade and maintain vehicle access, provide amenities, contribute extra patrols to ensure public safety and assist in environmental management such as dune stabilization works. |
